Chemistry

Course Outline

Chemistry is a course that teaches about the science on chemistry. Students will be expected to learn about chemical reactions in experiments, atoms in the everyday world like Protons, Neutrons, Electrons, and Ions. You will also learn about elements in the periodic table in equations, as well as learning about lab safety while working in the lab to provide in a fun and safe environment. You will also learn The Law of Conservation of Mass, the energy change from chemical reactions, and chemical bonding in Ionic, Covalent, metallic, and molecular structures. Lastly the key areas of focus students are expected to do are Measurement, and unit conversions, and scientific problem solving.

Why Students should take Chemistry

More internet images

Students should take chemistry because it is the central science that is linked up to Biology, and Physics. It can benefit students critical thinking skills, they can problem-solving analysis. It can open diverse careers: in the medicine department which you can create pharmaceuticals or medicine, in tech they can use that knowledge to create batteries or solar panels, it can also be used in forensics or even law. The world needs chemists now more than ever so they can help improve climate change like addressing pollution or developing sustainable practices. It can also drive innovation in medicine, electronics, energy or health. For example developing a new drug to cure alzheimer's disease or ALS a.k.a Lou Gehrig's disease, or create a new Ipad with futuristic features.

My opinion on chemistry

My opinion on Chemistry is that it is a good subject that I have been able to learn a lot about Chemical reactions, how to balance equations with elements or compounds or understanding acidic bases. My advice to people who are currently doing chemistry would be "keep up with the class at a good pace so you can understand the content and study hard so you can memorize and understand the terms of the content you're learning, you should also ask the teacher or work together with your peers if you are stuck on a specific question". Another thing you can do if you're behind on a specific subject in chemistry is to attend PLT so you can catch up on the work and ask the teacher question just one on one instead if you don't want to speak in front of the class.

Conclusion

In conclusion, chemistry is a good subject to learn because you can learn a lot about chemical reactions, the lewis structure, and balancing equations on specific elements and compounds. This course can also benefit students by opening up jobs: in the medical department, the tech department, jobs in global economics, being a scientist, or helping reduce climate change in our world .
