Social Studies
Course outline
Social Studies is a course that teaches about our world's history.( World War 1, World War 2) etc. Students will be expected to know the following: The first people's ideology, environmental, political and, environmental policies, identities in Canada, the incidents of the first people's residential schools abuse, discriminatory policies like the Chinese head tax, and The Komagata Maru incident, The Holocaust and the definition of genocide, the advocation for human rights, and truth and reconciliation, and international, and domestic conflicts. They will also learn about racial segregation, the destruction of Hogan's alley, and the internment of Japanese Canadians.
Why students should take Social Studies

Students should take Social Studies because it can develop their critical thinking skills, understand their role in world democracy, and build their knowledge on the world, it can also be beneficial for students who want to learn history later in life. The course can also promote people to understand diverse perspectives of multiple people, it will also prepare them for future success in future Social Studies courses. Other reasons are First, it will help you improve your reading and learning. Second, it will help you understand your role in society and how you can play a role in it. Third, you will understand to learn the government systems and participate in civic life. Finally, you will learn to evaluate political ideas and imagine impossible improvements in the future.
My opinion on Social Studies
In my opinion, Social Studies is a good subject because students can benefit from the subject. First, they can have better spatial awareness which can help them determine their physical locations much easier. Second, you can also understand their economics which can help them make good financial decisions can affect their future and the rest of civilization. Third, they can learn about the current events that are currently happening in our world for example (The wars in Israel, and Ukraine). The teachers can also do instructor-led discussions or debates about different current events or changes in the economy. Students in the future can also decide afterwards if they want to be a Historian, a Journalist, or be in Law enforcement.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Social studies is a good course because it can teach you about what happened back in the old civilization days to what is happening now in the 21st century. Social Studies is a good course to take because First, it can strengthen your knowledge on what current events are going on in the world. Second, It can also boost your academic performances in other subjects like English, and Science. Finally, you can reflect on how you can help make the world a better place.
